The cottage is adjacent to the Fort Victoria Country Park, on the North West coast of the Isle of Wight. The harbour town of Yarmouth is 15 minutes stroll along the beach, and the famous Needles is also nearby.
The country park is 20 hectares of woodland and beach with walking trails and spectacular views over the Solent, to Lymington, Keyhaven and Henry VIII's coastal fortress Hurst Castle. The park's woodland and beach are used by schools for studying natural history.
Fort Victoria itself is a triangular brick fort built in the 1850s and used during WW2 as a training battery for coastal gunners. Currently it is home to an aquarium, a planetarium, a model railway museum and a cafe.
